Meet Jack Parkyn
they/them/theirs

Jack is a Registered Social Worker and EMDR trained therapist. Open and welcoming in their approach, Jack works with young adult and adult clients facing PTSD, C-PTSD, and complex trauma. They help people navigate anxiety, depression, fear, loss, overwhelm, and significant life changes.

 

With a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia, Jack works with clients of all ages. Jack's approach is open and welcoming, providing a space to explore self, identify patterns, and see possibility in a collaborative and compassionate way.

Jack has experience in parenting and individual coaching and counselling, sexual health clinics, and queer crisis support line. With an evidence-based approach, Jack uses Internal Family Systems, relational therapy, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and EMDR.

Jack specializes in supporting significant life transitions. Whether that's a journey of self-discovery, a sudden or unexpected change to daily life, or the complexities of perinatal heath and reproductive mental health.

 

Before social work, Jack was a Research Assistant in the critical health field supporting projects on lived experience and community wellbeing. Jack continues to be active in research in reproductive health.
 

A member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Jack welcomes clients of all populations. Outside of work, Jack enjoys spending time with their children, exploring the forest or lakes, collaborating on mutual aid projects, and reading.

Special Interests

Psychoeducation: Psychadelic Assisted Therapy

Jack has training in Ketamine-assisted and Psilocybin-assisted therapy. While these therapies are not available at the Kelowna EMDR Clinic, Jack can assist clients with preparation and integration. This can include psychoeducation, exploring and setting intentions, readiness, support tools (meditation, IFS, breathwork) and the work of integration of psychedelic experiences.

Hormone Readiness Assessment

Jack provides hormone readiness assessment. These are available on a sliding scale. Email for more information.
